Stencils are an integral part of my art life. I have lots of them (over one hundred, I think, most of them my design, hand-cut or silhouette-cut), I use them often... So it's very hard for me to come up with something original.
When I was creating the previous challenge, I used inks directly on the canvas paper - and it was curling so I had to stick something on the back to strengthen it a bit. So now I already had a tissue paper background I had to work with. I put some neon acrylic paints on it first, then added some other vibrant paints.
Then I used my circle stencil to draw circles with a grey Neocolor II pastel. I smudged it with my finger.
Then I stamped some images to the inside of the circles. I was planing to use the grass stamp for my focal image later.
Next, I applied some transparent embossing paste (Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 line).
I went around the circles with a purple Neocolor II pastel.
I placed the circle stencil back on the page and applied some golden embossing paste (also Wendy Vecchi product) through another stencil. This one is my current favourite - I seem to be overusing it a bit...
So... what now? I had a background and I had no clue what to do next. I took the grass stamp from PaperArtsy EDY09 set and stamped it on a piece of purple tracing paper. Then I added a quote. Done? I wasn't sure... I didn't like it... And when something bugs me, I just can't leave it be.
So... Plan B... I chose another quote and cut it on my Silhouette machine - the actual words plus their outline. Love the effect! I'm really happy how it turned out!
Yay for Plan B!
All these layers contribute to a fantastically textured background and the colours are so vibrant... gorgeous!
