This is another art journal page I created for a Dina Wakley/RangerInk monthly challenge. The topic of the July challenge was:
If you wouldn't say it to a friend, don’t say it to yourself. ~Jane Travis
Create a piece of art about the things you say to yourself. Are you positive? Negative? Both?
I don't think I talk to myself while painting... Other than "what have you done? you ruined it all!" and then "ufff, you saved it". LOL
Also, I don't like to add my own words/journalling/etc. to my art journals. But - most of the quotes and words I use reflect my current state of mind. So they are "personal" in a way and mean something to me.
I'm using a journal with craft paper so I first gessoed it with clear gesso. Then I added some stencilling - tiny dots in white paint and some pink accents using Dina's Leafy stencil. I also added some drippage and paint splatters.
Here's a detail:
Then I took a piece of leftover scrap paper from gelli printing and added some more paint to it and also stencilled some quotes on it in contrasting teal paint. I cut the paper into circles.
I outlined the circles using black Distress Paint.
I also stencilled a face on one of the circles (Dina Wakley's Moon Faces stencil).
Next, I added shading around the circles using Dina's Scribble Sticks. Finally I added a quote (cut from a book I use for collages).
