For this fortnight's PaperArtsy challenge, I chose to decorate the cover of my journal. The topic is Liquid Sculpting Medium but I'm not familiar with this stuff, so I used other media (mediums?).
I glued a piece of mesh fabric to the journal cover using heavy-body multi medium. I also added some texture with bead paste/gel. Then I pressed a clay face, chipboard letters and some twine into the wet medium and let it all air-dry over night.
When it was all dry, I gessoed it all with black gesso. Then I sprayed it with various metallic sprays.
It needed some vibrant colours, so I added some acrylic inks (forgetting I had blue-ish sprays underneath... what do you get when you mix yellow with blue? duh...) I left it to air-dry again.
Finally, I added a bit of patina using green-ish and copper wax pastes.
Here's the detail...
...oh, I love the colours and the texture!
